Meet Susan Halim, M.S., M.A., LMFT
I am a mother of two and a licensed marriage and family therapist in private practice in Orange County, California. My passion in life is to provide warm and compassionate, evidence-based therapy to children, teens, and adults.
I specialize in helping my clients overcome debilitating anxiety and depression, trauma and attachment issues, life transitions and adjustments, and grief & loss while learning how to live life to the fullest as the most authentic version of themselves. I am also deeply committed to supporting parents throughout their journey from pregnancy to launching your adult children and beyond.
My theoretical orientation draws from evidence-based practices such as Internal Family Systems as well as Mindfulness-Based Therapies (Stress Reduction, Cognitive Behavioral, Self Compassion, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). I also incorporate art and play therapy techniques into my sessions with children and teens and am in the process of being certified in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) for traumatic life experiences.
I graduated with a Masters degree in Counseling from Cal State Fullerton in 2013 and I am the recipient of the department's prestigious "Excellence as a Counselor" award. I have been a practicing therapist for over 10 years and my background includes working with children, teens, young adults and their families in community mental health and non-profit clinics. I was a lead facilitator for the Los Angeles Well Baby Center's mindful pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting groups and I am currently a Mindful Parenting Instructor for UC Irvine's Susan Samueli Integrative Health Center.
A former elementary school counselor, I continue to volunteer my services teaching social-emotional (SEL) skills to elementary school students and providing SEL workshops to teachers and parents.
Having a second Master's degree in Intercultural Communication and a former career as a college-level counselor to the international community at both the University of Hawaii at Manoa and the University of California at San Francisco, I am also skilled at helping individuals navigate cultural and transitional issues.
I have a bachelor's degree in Comparative Literature and Classics, enjoy traveling, have lived and worked in Japan as an english teacher, and am an avid reader, board game player, podcast listener and film nerd.

Meet Miso, Therapy Dog Assistant
Miso is a sweet natured female Havanese who began assisting Susan with her clients in January, 2022. She provides clients with snuggles, laughs, and lots of feel good chemicals. She absolutely loves her job, although she has been known to take breaks to play with her toys, snack and snore while sleeping upside down.
